After Nearly A Decade On The Underground Dallas Legend Big Chief Signs To Cash Money

While many hip-hop fans may be more familiar with the Dallas boogie movement that pumps out club tracks, Dallas, Texas rapper Big Chief has been making music and pushing his Eat Greedy brand to the streets of his city for years.

From hits like “My Swag” featuring Jim Jones, to “Check” featuring Bobby Valentino and Slim Thug, to the recently penned “Triple D Anthem” ft Dorrough and Bay Bay, Chief is one of Dallas most well respected and known artists.

But now Chief is making some more noise by signing to Cash Money Records, receiving the blessing of Baby himself over Dallas' K104 Radio.

Big Chief described the spontaneous signing to AllHipHop.com as a series of events where Baby asked the DJ,  Hollywood Bay Bay, "Who the hottest artist in the city?"

Bay Bay suggested Big Chief, and after hearing his most recent record entitled “Triple D Anthem”, Baby made it official.

“I mean actually, he [Baby] was doing an interview at K104 with Bay Bay and he asked who was the hottest kid out here, he said he wanted to change someone's life” Big Chief told AllHipHop.com.

“He said play some Big Chief, Bay Bay played my new joint, and when he did that he stopped the music and said tell lil’ homie to get at me.”

While details of the deal are still being finalized, Chief is adamant that this will take his career to the next level.

“They been having such a crazy schedule, with the Grammy’s and All-Star, but Baby’s manager said, ‘it’s official, go ahead and run with it,’ ” Chief explained.  “Live air on K104.5 He cosigned Big Chief in front of millions of people.”

Big Chief's Eat Greedy Volume 12 Mixtape series is expected to be released in March and his “Triple D Anthem” is getting airplay in several markets across the South.

“Triple D anthem is burning up the airwaves and the anthem will probably go down as one of the most legendary songs in Dallas,” an excited, but cool Big Chief said.

Famed Houston director Dr. Teeth will shoot the visuals for the song in the coming weeks.

“The main objective is to put on for my whole city. Not taking away from those that came before me, but this is a whole new level," concluded Big Chief.
